The St Francis 2nd XV celebrated a triumphant victory away against the Brighton & Hove Sea Serpents over the weekend winning 7-73!
Despite the severe muddy conditions the side ran riot with the team scoring a host of fantastic tries thoroughout the full eighty minutes.
Up front Etherington did a superb job with his first 80 minutes propping. In the backrow Ul Haq brought his strong physical game and alongside him team mate Ellis gave a man of the match performance with his defence and tireless efforts at the breakdown.
In the backs Dalton had a great first half and was so close to scoring but was shut down by Serpents defence in the opening minutes of the game. Elsewhere Wessel (who had his second match with the club) showed he has a very bright future ahead of him, Parsons looks like a great future prospect for the Friars and there was also a great debut from Logan - who went in to score the final try of the game and his first for the club!
With an influx of players coming in as the season comes ever closer to a close it was great to see the side have so many people get a run out which was one of the turning points of the game. The fresh legs continued to pin more pressure on the tiring opposition which lead to the Friars running away with the game.
It was a long overdue win, let alone a match, for the Friars after their recent matches have been cancelled due to the pitches being unplayable due to the adverse weather conditions.
St Francis are already recruiting for next season and welcome players of all abilities - if you are interested in playing get in touch through email: email@example.com or contact Alex on 07720344944
