Tries: Searle, Goodayle 2, Morrisey, Bruce
St Francis booked their place in the Semi Final of the Harveys Sussex Cup with a 7 – 30 victory away at Pulborugh.
The conditions were dirty and rough in Pulborough , it was wetter than an otter’s pocket and windy as f*ck you could say.
The start of the game was poor for St Francis just like someone's Tinder profile (who we cannot reveal) as Pulborough went over to take a 7 – 0 lead.
St Francis responded in fantastic fashion as Ben Searle ran half the length to bring the scores level at 7-7.
St Francis was beginning to up the foreplay. Then came the moments of sensual magic from the South African Mr Grey, a.k.a Chris “Peri-Peri” Goodayle, first he whipped the ball out of the air dominantly to go down to finish.
Yet Goodayle wanted more! The ‘Saffa Mr Grey’ sent St Francis into complete sensual euphoria as he slowly penetrated the Pulborugh’s defense to go down again to give St Francis a 7 – 17 half time lead.
As the second half begin St Francis were not ready to take the pressure off. A penalty for naughty handling/fingering in the rucks from Pulborough saw St Francis take a 7 – 20 lead.
This then lead to St Francis to release the big boys in the form of Thomas ‘The Tank’ Bruce and Ryan ‘Love Banana‘ Morrisey. The first try of the second half came from the Love Banana.
St Francis earned a scrum on Pulborough’s 5 metre line and the Pulborough pack were completely man handled/ dominated which allowed Morrisey to slip in and finish off for the Frannies fourth try to Peacockes’ delight.
Then came the final act from Tom the Tank, in which the Bruce scored in the manner he always pleasures in, going in hard and slow! As the score finished 7 – 30.
Special thanks to everyone who came down from the squad to the supporters, the club really appreciates the effort made by everyone in such torrid conditions and Pulborough RFC for being excellent hosts and opposition.
St Francis will now play Newick in the Semi Final at home with a date TBC.
